NOBRES

Daily departures from Cuiabá in Mato Grosso around 7:00a.m. via the Emanuel Pinheiro paved highway toward the National Park of Chapada dos Guimarães. Twenty kilometres later, when we reach the intersection that leads to the Manso factory, we will continue on the paved highway toward the factory which is about 90 kilometres from Cuiabá. From the factory, we will continue toward the Ecological Retreat of Lagoa Azul via gravel roads for 45 kilometres and will reach our destination at around 9:30a.m. We will be given a short talk about using the snorkelling equipment, then we will walk to the aquarium via a trail of approximately 800 meters to experience the fauna and flora typical of this transition to the Cerrado and to Amazonian Mato Grosso. At the aquarium, we will snorkel in clear water among the shoals of fish for about an hour and 30 minutes. We will then have lunch (traditional food) and take a rest. In the early afternoon, we will visit the Salobra River near the snorkelling aquarium. In the late afternoon, around 4:30p.m., we will return to Cuiabá arriving at 8:00p.m.

Estivado River Spa two kilometres from Bom Jardim where you can swim in the river among shoals of typical Mato Grosso fish such as Piau, Pêra, Lambaris and Piraputanga.

The Rio Triste, (Triste River), 17 kilometres from Bom Jardim, where you can snorkel in the crystal-clear waters and where, in addition to schools of fish, you can see stingrays. This is the only river in Nobres where you will find this species.

Lagoa das Araras (Araras Lagoon), one kilometre from Bom Jardim, where you can enjoy the sunset as well as the Macaw, Parrot and Parakeet Show

Serra Azul waterfall 19 kilometres from Bom Jardim. This is the largest and most beautiful waterfall of Nobres, with a drop of 45 meters. Access is made via a 300-metre trail and a brick staircase of about 350 steps. The Sierra Azul waterfall is located on top of the mountain range of the same name and at the falls there is a beautiful natural 6-metre deep pool. The place is excellent for swimming and diving (or snorkelling) among the schools of fish.
